In 2012, Jim Messina managed President Obama’s reelection–the first campaign run on data at that scale, and the template most modern campaigns still work from. A year later, he started The Messina Group (TMG) with Tara Corrigan and Ty Matsdorf: three people, a borrowed office without windows, and a short list of rules. Only take fights you believe in. Let the wins speak. Grow or die. In 2015, TMG helped David Cameron win a majority nobody had forecast, and we’ve been working outside the U.S. ever since. Ben Mallet built the international operation from London and runs it today, alongside Ty on the domestic side. Over the decade since, this team has helped elect more than 15 world leaders on six continents.
That last rule–grow or die–is the one that brought us here. MCM² is our political work standing on its own: its own brand, its own client roster, built for how campaigns actually run. The name comes from our four principals: Messina, Corrigan, Matsdorf, and Mallet. And squaring multiplies something by itself, which is what happens when the tactics that win campaigns get applied with more force, in more places, than a normal firm can. The square is the difference.
We work for the operations that set the tempo: committees and PACs in the U.S., parties and leaders abroad. We take the tools that win modern campaigns seriously without mistaking them for what decides races–judgment, relationships, discipline, trust. The campaigns change every cycle. The candidates change. The countries change. The way we treat the work doesn’t.
MCM² is a Fortius Global company. That connection gives our clients a network across most major markets. The political work lives here.
